Ballad of Louis and Angeline

The legend falls, as I recall, off the coast of San Marquis
There, sails the ghost of a mighty ship, the 'Sweet Angeline'
When the wind is howling, and the thunder sounds the call...
Off the coast, some years ago, did a mighty sailor fall.

In the town of San Marquis did Louis and sweet Angeline
Make their home and break their bread on an island in the sea
Louis was a sailing man, had been all his life
Angeline, his dearest love, and soon to be his wife

Then came the day he said farewell
Sweet Angeline, this morning I'm leaving

C'est la vie, sweet Angeline
Adieu, and farewell, and I bid you
Goodnight.

Many years and shadows past, he never did return
Angeline, she ran away, his fate she never learned
Many years still later past 'til Louis came back home
To find his Angeline had gone, and left him there alone

Then came the day he said farewell
Sweet Angeline, this morning I'm leaving

C'est la vie, sweet Angeline
Adieu, and farewell, and I bid you
Goodnight.

On his final voyage, Louis sailed sure,
But Neptune claimed the sea that night, and kept him from the shore
In howling winds, the waters raged, the thunder sounds the call,
and off the coast of San Marquis did a mighty sailor fall.

Then came the day he said farewell
Sweet Angeline, this morning I'm leaving

C'est la vie, sweet Angeline
Adieu, and farewell, and I bid you
Goodnight.
