Afternoon Delightful Daydream

They let me out on Tuesday, I was good for the whole weekend
And I got to see my friends, we hung out like the old days
We talked about the good times and of bright young inspiration
And we laughed like old friends do, when everything's the same, but feels so brand new

This is how it's all supposed to be
Me and all my friends inside
an Afternoon Delightful Daydream

I took out my guitar and then you brought out that old 12-string
And we played all them old songs, you laughed when I got words wrong
Went walking down the line and playing Polkadots in time
Then sang our Generation's Blues, remember Daisy Mae looked so good when she moved

This is how it's all supposed to be
Me and all my friends inside
an Afternoon Delightful Daydream

Those days, they seemed so fast and crazy
But never did we lose sight of our dreams
Those days made us older, so it did seem
But never have we been so alive and so free

Eventually it came true and the Harvest Sun came shining through
And our family of friends all went out to change the world
Remembering the kindness of both strangers and our best friends
Singing, this is how to be wondering if anyone would listen to me

This is how it's all supposed to be
Me and all my friends inside
an Afternoon Delightful Daydream
